For this project, you will need:

  • Three inch or larger glass ball ornament
  • Aluminum foil
  • Large piece of cardboard
  • Ruler
  • Craft knife
  • Self healing mat
  • Gliitter
  • Krylon General Purpose Metallic Spray Paint in Gold Metallic
  • Krylon Indoor Outdoor Spray Paint in Rich Plum
  • Scissors
  • 1/4 inch purple satin ribbon
  • Hot glue gun and glue sticks

Carefully remove the hanging cap from the three inch or larger glass ball ornament. Set the hanging cap aside in a safe place; you will use it later on in the project.

If you like crafting, then most likely you like to do your own manicure. Therefore, I recommend paying attention to glitter nail for polish.

Measure and cut two ten inch long pieces of aluminum foil. Outside, or in another well ventilated space, place one of the foil pieces on top of a large piece of cardboard. Spray the entire front of the foil piece using Krylon General Purpose Metallic Spray Paint in Gold Metallic. Allow the foil to dry for a half hour or longer, just until the paint is no longer tacky to touch. Turn the gold painted foil piece over on the cardboard and repeat the process. Dry completely before carefully removing the tin from the cardboard piece.

Place the second piece of foil on the large piece of cardboard. Spray the foil with Krylon Indoor Outdoor Spray Paint in Rich Plum. Allow the foil to dry for a half hour or longer before adding a second coat and drying again. Turn the foil over and repeat on the other side.

Set the gold painted foil piece on top of the self healing mat. Measure the foil into grid sections that are 1/2 inch by 1/2 inch. Cut out these sections using a craft knife. Repeat this process with the plum purple painted tin sheet.

Stuff the small painted foil squares inside the opening of the glass ball ornament. For every gold square you use, be sure to add one purple square. Continue to do so until the entire ornament is filled with purple and gold confetti. Resecure the hanging cap with a bit of hot glue and allow the ornament to dry overnight.

Cut a small piece of 1/4 inch purple satin ribbon. Thread through the hanging cap and tie the ends into a bow. Hang the ornament on your holiday tree, as desired.
